Spurs fans back AVB, says Wynne

Daniel Wynne believes Tottenham supporters can go into the new season full of optimism following the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas.

The former Porto and Chelsea manager was named as the replacement for Harry Redknapp on Tuesday.

And Wynne, spokesman for the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust, is confident club chairman Daniel Levy has made the right choice.

“I’m delighted,” he said. “He has a proven track record as a manager.

“There was a slight hiccup at Chelsea last season, when he was sacked, but he had known troublemakers in Didier Drogba and John Terry who caused unrest, on and off the pitch. He won’t have that at Spurs.

“He will have a united squad playing the 4-3-3 system he wants and the added bonus of Gareth Bale on a new deal.

Looking back on the tenure of Redknapp, who left the club after they missed out on a Champions League spot, Wynne said: "We played some fantastic football last season and hopefully Villas-Boas can continue that.

@We need to improve our consistency and must ensure we can pull results out of the hat at the business end of the season."
