Southend? I'm still seeing red

articlemain

Dean Furman insists he is taking nothing for granted ahead of Tuesday's FA Cup clash with Southend United - despite being just 90 minutes away from facing Liverpool at Anfield.

The Oldham captain is fully focused on making sure his side make home advantage count in the second round replay at Boundary Park.

Oldham were held to a 1-1 draw at Roots Hall last weekend and are now hoping to book their place at Anfield for the Third Round tie.

But midfielder Furman has warned his team-mates to forget the lure of Liverpool and concentrate on making sure they get the job done.

"Everyone was excited when the draw came out, but we've not got there yet," he said.

"We have to make sure we're ready for Southend and we've got big games before that too.

"It's important that we don't think too hard about Liverpool and instead focus on making sure we continue our good run of form."

Oldham are currently 12th in League One and have lost just once in their past ten matches.

Furman added: "We've been playing well and hopefully that will carry on.

"We're only human and obviously the possibility of playing Liverpool is there.

"We're just thinking about what we need to make sure we get there."
