South Manchester reach T20 final

articlemain

South Manchester reached the final of the Greater Manchester Amateur League’s T20 following a six-wicket success over Wilmslow.

Dan Glicher had early success with the ball at Offerton, bringing the dangerous Kazi to the crease. The south bowlers were hit to all parts of the ground as he, along with Metzelaar, took advantage of some sloppy fielding and dropped catches.

Kazi finished on 71 and his partner was run out on 49 as South began to fight back. There followed a flurry of quick wickets as Wilmslow tried to add to the total and they eventually ended up on 158-6. Steven Allweis (2-24) and Glicher (2-25) starred with the ball for South.
to end the innings.

Tight bowling and fielding restricted South’s top-order and they lost three quick wickets, with Loz Newman and Akiva Lieberman going cheaply.

Allweis was unlucky to go on 19 as the ball hit his pads before agonisingly rolling on to his stumps. With Elliot Koffman unable to bat after breaking a finger whilst fielding, it was down to Simon Jeffries and Dan Lieberman to see South home.

Lieberman produced a devastating display of hitting and finished unbeaten on 51, which included one 6 and eight fours, whilst Jeffries ended unbeaten on 37, including five fours, to set up a final showdown against Forresters on September 7.
