Jody Marks expressed disappointment after South Manchester's winning run came to an end in a six-goal thriller against title rivals Mace.

South dominated the game and "deserved to win the game," according to Marks, but found the Mace goalkeeper in inspired form.

The home side ran riot at the beginning scoring through the in-form Yaffe with another trademark header and should have been 3-0 up within 20 minutes, but for some "disappointing" offside decisions by the referee.

Mace turned the game on its head and hit back with their first attack of the game after 30 minutes through a rasping free-kick and then went 2-1 up two minutes later following a mix up at the back.

Parity was restored straight from the restart as Toby Levy hit back to make it 2-2 at half time.

South changed a few things around at the break and started the half in full attacking flow. Their pressure was rewarded when Adam Lavin scored his customary goal, but the lead only lasted five minutes as Mace scored for the third time.

South pressed hard for the winner and were met on more than five occasions by a goalkeeper who was just unbeatable.

Jody Marks told JC Sport: "In the end I am disappointed we didn't convert our chances, but overall I'll take the point and feel it will prove a good point at the end of the season.

"Our focus now turns away from the league and onto the Morrison game against Leeds Maccabi which the lads are really excited about as we aim to win the trophy in the clubs 65th anniversary year."
