Souber steps down as Fortune manager

articlemain

Andrew Souber has stepped down as manager of Temple Fortune, just weeks after leading them to the JC MSFL Division Two title.

The decision of Souber, 38, came as a major surprise although we understand it is connected to work and family commitments.

Speaking to the Fortune website, Souber said: "It has been an absolute pleasure to have been around you guys and our championship win was a fully deserved reward for all the hard work you put in over this season and the previous ones.

"I have to say that whoever takes over could not wish to inherit a better bunch of lads. I doubt there is a club in the Maccabi League run as well as this one and with you guys on board I can only see TFFC continue to go from strength to strength."

Club chairman Nigel Kyte said: "Andy did an absolutely superb job, together with Lee Fegan, in guiding the First Team to the MSFL Division 2 championship."

Lee Fegan, the club's current No. 2, and Jack Morris have been installed as favourites to replace the former JFS student.

Record signing Scott Shindler is rumoured to be mulling over becoming player-manager.

There is also talk of Danny Caro, the current joint-manager of North London Raiders A, returning to his first MSFL club. Caro made well over 100 appearances in the famous Yellow and Red jersey and was Player of the Year three times, as well as Clubman of the Year.

Continuing the JFS theme, bookmakers are offering 20-1 on Fortune old boys Caro and Tony Gold returning as a dream team.

The club confirmed that they plan to make an announcement over the weekend although any appointment cannot be ratified until the Fortune AGM in June.

Temple Fortune B team managers Gavin Levy and Rob Jay have also stepped down from their posts.
