A Jamie Sinai double steered Catford to their fourth straight win as they edged past Hendon C at Norseman FC.

Catford and Bromley maintained their 100 per cent record but were given an almighty scare by plucky Hendon.

Hendon came to battle and Catford had to work hard for the three points. However, they created a lot of early chances and Gabriel John missed a first-half penalty before a scintillating Yonni Bord run down the right wing and cross led to Sinai beating the keeper and poking home from close range.

Catford dominated the rest of the first half and barely gave Hendon a look in. However, the visitors felt that they were playing the better football but with little cutting edge.

In the second half Hendon came out looking to get on the front foot and started to get forward more. Even so the Cats still created a wealth of chances, largely from set-pieces but with Sinai and Bord causing all sorts of problems along with Steve Keller down the right.

Hendon's pressure eventually paid off when a corner broke to Alex Elf who drilled home in typically clinical fashion.

Hendon piled forward in search of a winner, and Adam Jacobs was inches away from a John Obi Mikel moment when his flicked header hit the inside of the post but stayed out, denying him his first goal in Sunday league football.

The woodwork denied Hendon once more shortly after when Ben Glekin's header hit the crossbar.

John shot inches wide from distance with a few minutes left before a long goal kick was flicked on by the same player and Sinai ran clear to dink the ball over the onrushing keeper with supreme confidence.

Catford captain Adam Luria told JC Sport: "It was a battle today with the bare 11 and a number of players out. But there's something different about Catford this season, with real strength in depth already proving crucial. And then there's the fact that we go out to win.

"As a team we play for each other and we have built a winning mentality, led from the top by Lester Jacobs, but with leaders all through the team."

Hendon boss Adam Glekin told JC Sport: "I'm absolutely gutted to be honest, I thought a point was the very least we deserved. We played considerably the better football and created the better chances, but unfortunately we've come away with nothing.

"I'm disappointed, but still remain positive with regards to the rest of the season."
