Sharpe upbeat as Wingate go down

articlemain

Aron Sharpe says relegation “is not the end of the world” after Wingate & Finchley dropped out of the Ryman Premier Division.

Scott Shulton was among the scorers as Wingate beat Billericay Town 5-0 on the final day of the season but they went down on goal difference.

"Yes, I'm disappointed, but it isn’t the end of the world,” said Sharpe. “Anyone who knows me will not be surprised that next season started the following day.

"I have no less ambition than for the club to bounce straight back and am pleased that our management team will continue to implement our development plan at the club, which is the envy of many. It is amazing how other coaching staff and committees hold us in high esteem.

"Other teams would be distressed at relegation; however, we must be realistic and understand on our current budget it was always going to be difficult to maintain our status."
