Sela swept aside by Karlovic at Wimbledon

articlemain

Dudi Sela followed compatriot Shahar Peer out of Wimbledon after tumbling out of the men's singles competition in the first round of Wimbledon.

Giving away several inches in height, Sela was well beaten by giant Ivo Karlovic on Court 5.

Sela battled hard for every point but, ultimately, he had no answer to the big-serving Croatian, going down 6-4, 6-4, 7-6.

A quarter-finalist at Wimbledon in 2009, Karlovic sent down 25 booming aces against Sela's one and won an impressive 90 per cent points average on his first serve.

Victory for Karlovic sets up a second-round clash against Andy Murray.
