Season 2013/14 preview: L'Equipe

It's been a busy summer for L'Equipe and their managers, Daniel Cordell and Josh Lewis. And dare I say, there's a promising season in store, once they find a keeper ...

Which competitions have you entered this season? MSFL Division 3, Peter Morrison and Cyril Ankstein (would be good to play in the Barry Goldstein Cup also!)

Have you made any new signings? The management team have been busy in the transfer market so far and we can now officially announce some of our summer activity – Dan Gray (from Brixton), Craig Draper (from Brixton), Gavin Rhodes (from UJIA) and Richard Fogelman (previously Jewventus). We are also in talks with two or three other exceptional players, but we will be keeping our cards close to our chest until they have signed on the dotted line

Which of the signings excites you most? All four signings will be key this season, but after watching Fogelman in our recent pre-season victory against Loughton I can tell you he is an exciting signing who I’m sure will be scoring for fun in Division Three. He is known throughout the league and feared by most defences so keep your eye on him; aim this season will be the Golden Boot for Fogelman

Have any players left? We have lost a couple members of the L'equipe family this year, as Mike Silverberg has decided to join Oakwood B and Paul Rubenstein has gone into early retirement – everyone at the club thanks them for their contribution over the last few years and wishes them well for next season

What are your hopes for the season? One aim and that's to win the division. Last year saw Division Three littered with sides who should be playing Division One football, and with the likes of Mill Hill being promoted this is the best chance we have of sealing top spot. With a new management team in place we are aiming high. Minimum promotion with a good cup run to suit – we want silverware this year!

Which players would you describe as the 'ones to watch' and why? Players to watch Richard Fogelman, Dan Finegold, Richard Mail and David Prager

Fogelman – been a prolific Goal-scorer in the MSFL for years and will be aiming for the Golden Boot this season - will be looking for a quick start against King Crown – we have lured him a box of pampers for his kid every 10 goals he nets

Finegold – Most Improved player for L’Equipe last year. After an excellent first season we have high hopes for Finegold to continue his good form

Prager – after taking one for the team the last two years as Goalkeeper, he is now coming back outfield where he belongs at the heart of L’Equipe defence. Also a threat at set-pieces he will definitely be one to look out for – best centre back in Jewish football

Mail/Male/Ricky/The Scottish One – he had to have his shackles on at centre back last year where he was class, but we will let him lose this year in centre mid where he will show his true colours – will dominate most midfields in the league

Which team/s do you consider your strongest challengers? Norstar London Raiders C – I’m expecting them to be strong since the recent merger they should have some good players at their disposal. Other than that Faithfold and Hendon are always well organised and consistent. The division was littered with top quality sides - some of which should have been in Division One - and now that they have moved on the league is wide open for us

Captain: Previous captain Mike Silverberg has recently left the club so we can now officially announce that Mark Singer and David Prager will be reinstated as Captain and Vice-Captain

Team sponsor: We don't have a sponsor. We are a one team, self-sufficient club who live and breath the clubs colours

Home ground: We have now moved to West Hendon Playing Fields

What will your team bring to the league this season? We are a single club team that has been running for over 6 years and the main bulk of our squad has been together since our inception - cut most of the boys open and they will probably bleed the orange and black of L'Eequipe. It's difficult to recreate the passion one has for a Sunday league club that we have here and everyone is willing but more importantly wants to give 110 per cent for their club teammate. We are a unit which in this day and age of footballing culture is a rarity. We have a great bunch of lads who bring a bit of personality to the league – we have mature heads and given the influx of young teams in the division our experience of cold and wet Sunday mornings akin to a cold Tuesday night away at Stoke (not wanting to liken us to Stoke) will see us through. This is a new look (new kits) L'Equipe who have great aspirations for the season ahead
