Season 2012/13 preview: Norstar A

articlemain

Norstar A boss Phil Peters has put together what he describes as “the strongest squad in the club’s history,” ahead of their first season in the Premier Division.

The club will be involved in three Maccabi competitions as well as the London Sunday Intermediate Cup and Peters believes his troops are capable of “springing a few surprises, whilst continuing to enjoy our football”.

He has tipped the big three of Hendon, Lions and Redbridge to compete for major honours, and believes North London Raiders are capable of having a strong season.

Peters said: “I’d be surprised if they weren’t up there. Rob Richman's been prolific in the transfer market and is a fabulous manager.”

Jeremy Elster has been retained as captain, “despite never bothering to come to training,” while new signings include Ben Sheldon, Danny Bloom and Mark Leader from
Raiders, JJ Spiro from Lions and Alex Jacobs from Brady under-18’s.

Norstar fans will be delighted to hear that “Adam Kaldor and Sammy Kalms have returned from injury looking fitter and sharper than ever so expect good things, whilst Josh Pistol continues to mature into one of the strongest centre backs in Jewish football. Kay and Peters in central midfield are sure to impress.

“This is the strongest squad we've ever had at the club and there's no one who won't have a significant part to play.

“The squad's almost complete,” said Peters, “but we wouldn't say no if someone special showed an interest.”
