Salford's damp squib

articlemain

A career-best 6-45 from Jonny Wineburg was not enough as Salford Jewish CC suffered a 74-run defeat in a rain-affected match against West Didsbury.

An early wicket from Alex Goodman soon put West Didsbury on the back foot and they continued to find runs hard to come by with the impressive Wineberg taking wickets at regular interval.

Some big hitting towards the end of the innings steered West Didsbury towards a respectable total in this Greater Manchester Amateur League contest.

With only 30 overs to chase the runs down, Salford buckled under the pressure. West Didsbury captain Yussuf Sallem 5-16 orchestrated a collapse as Salford were dismissed for 66.
