Richman reflects on ‘best win’

Rob Richman, the manager of North London Raiders B, praised his team for recording their "best-ever victory" following the 2-1 success over Faithfold A in the Premier Division.

Playing in the top-flight for the first time, strikes from David Dinkin and Dan Grossman earned Raiders a famous win with the goals coming either side of an effort from Mike Pearson.

Richman said: "I'm thrilled. Faithfold's results so far this season speak for themselves and I have absolutely no doubt they will be fighting it out for the title towards the end of the season.

"We came with a specific game-plan and I thought it worked superbly. Our game is improving week on week and we played some really excellent football, and in my opinion thoroughly deserved the victory."

It was a good day all round for the club with North London Raiders A claiming their first win of the season against last season's champions, Redbridge Jewish Care A. Mark Leader put Raiders ahead with a strike from inside his own half. Brad Frankel looked to have earned RJC a point with an 89th minute header but straight from the restart, super-subs Andrew McMaster and Adam Posner linked up in a move that saw RJC's Sam McCarthy head the ball against his own bar. Keeper Dan Lee could only help the ball into the net.

Rob Hershkorn (2), Jamie Kent (2) and James Kaye were the scorers as Brixton Old Boys A claimed an extra time victory over Mass FC in the second round of the London FA Sunday Junior Cup.

Dan Castle and Craig Pearl helped Division One leaders Chigwell Athletic beat Neasden B 2-0.

Norstar A boosted their promotion hopes with Simon Perlmutter (2), Adam Jason (2) and Adam Kaldor setting up a 5-2 win over Oakwood. Dan Ash (2) replied.

Camden Park kept up their winning formula in Division Two with Richard Silver and Josh Toff steering them past Faithfold B.

Title rivals Hendon B maintained their unblemished record with player-manager Motty Korman and Chaim Gothold among the scorers in the 5-0 demolition of L'Equipe. Pinty Baddiel, James Josephs and Parys Hammond finished the job.

Doron Weinstein was the hat-trick hero as Redbridge C hit Faithfold C for six. Dan Gordon (2) and Craig Johnston sealed the points.

Craig Sandford scored the only goal as Division Three table-toppers Glenthorne B edged past Neasden C.

Having thumped them 18-0 only a few weeks ago, Shirley Park heaped more misery on Team JLGB, beating them 12-1. Saul Conway (5), Stefan Benfredj (3), Sacha Benfredj, Nicky Plotnek, Simon Shelley and Dan Oade completed the rout. Rob Silverman grabbed a consolation for JLGB.

Three goals from Assi Avital and two from Ben Nassim earned UJIA one of the results of the day as they thumped Los Blancos 5-1.

North London Raiders C made it six out of six with Ben Hart (2), Darren Russell (2), Rob Samuelson and Matt Bennett doing the damage in a 6-0 success over Athletico Finchley.

Sam Roth (2) and Ben Bell were the marksmen as Athletic Bilbaum eased past FC Team C 3-0.
