The Bananas bounced back to beat Team B 3-0 in having lost to the very same team by 2 goals just 7 days prior in the reverse fixture.

The first half was an unremarkable affair with SPEC having the lions-share of possession without ever really creating a clear opening. The Bananas best chances came from a succession of corners when they tried to implement the “horseshoe” routine they had practiced incessantly at training. However for the Team defence thought it was mere horseplay and they managed to hoof anything clear.

The lowlight of the first half was undoubtedly James Lesner’s foul throw. Amram felt he should have had a penalty for SPEC whilst at the other end of the pitch Mike Mirrelman watched on in goal untroubled…. his fuchsia gloves enough to put anyone off.

SPEC upped their game in the second half and after the mosquito Dan Armam released speed demon Craig Cohen down the right, Team knew they were in trouble. Cohen got to the by-line before firing in a precise cross that Elliott Wallis smashed home to give the Bananas a well-earned lead and very much the goal that Wallis’ efforts had deserved.

Skipper Ashley Burns soon doubled SPEC’s advantage, hustling the Team B defence into submission before unleashing a wonderful strike from the edge of the box into the left corner that chairman Jeremy Lawrence described as ‘goal of the season’. Burns, who had been given special permission from his girlfriend to play in the game on the basis he gets all the dusting, ironing and hovering done no later than dusk, celebrated jubilantly.

Though for SPEC the best was yet to come. Dan Henig soon made sure of the three points with an audacious lob from 25 yards to open his account for the club after Pike had done magnificently to skilfully control, turn and release the diminutive winger.

A combination of Mirrelman’s increasingly impressive dominance and Hecht’s endeavour saw the game finish much how it had started… with SPEC on top.

It was victory and indeed revenge for the Bananas in a hotly contested affair, with both teams now looking forward to pushing up the table as the season progresses.

Club Chairman and maker of the worlds finest hair extensions Jeremy Lawrence Facebooked: “Superb today boys” and MIA Star Striker James Segal posted: “Well done lads keep it up!”
