Republic of Mancunia are determined to fire the title race wide open when they meet championship rivals Manchester Maccabi 3rd.

Republic sit third in the league, level on points with second place Maccabi and leaders South Manchester after an impressive run of form.

And after two Moishe Hasid goals gave them a 2-0 win at Oakhill Lions, Republic are now aiming to extend their unbeaten run with victory over Maccabi.

"We're bang in form at the moment and we just want to keep on playing and winning," said Republic star Anthony Bloch.

"We don't fear anyone and we're relishing the next game. We feel we've got a point to prove this season after finishing third last year and winning the cup.

"The league title is a realistic aspiration and we're all desperate to win it."

South Manchester Sports Club 2nd remain top of the table, despite going down 2-0 at reigning champions Haroldeans. Avi Rosenthal grabbed the goals.

Hyde Park Rovers continued their stunning start to the season with the 7-0 thrashing of Westdene 1st. Adam Fletcher (2), Oli Grant, Jason Wise, David James, David Cohen and Bobby Abrams finished the job.

Victory followed a 5-2 midweek win over fellow student side Oakhill Lions with goals from Grant (3), Sam Grant and Wise.

Daniel Rubinstein hit a hat-trick as Manchester Maccabi 2nd cruised to a 6-2 win over Crumpsall in the opening round of the Shonn Cup.

Rubinstein stole the show with Phil End's double and an Adam Stevens strike rounding off the scoring for the visitors.

Sporting JLGB also booked their place in the next round with a comfortable 4-2 win over Westdene 2nd.

Danny Jacobs, Mark Bell, Jarod Cohen and Jordan Foxler were all on target for the hosts as they built on last week's 7-0 win over Crumpsall.
