Reich Insurance Blue served notice of their MJSL title threat - but Stuart Delmonte has all but written off their championship hopes.

The Blue team hit leaders Haroldeans for six to bring the Merseysiders back down to earth with a bump.

Haroldeans had won seven out of seven but they had no answer to the hosts as they surrendered their perfect start.

Reich Blue are just two points behind the pace-setters and with six games remaining they are in the title mix.

But co-manager Delmonte said: "We have a slim chance. Losing some key games last month could have cost us.

"We need some teams to do us a favour while Haroldeans have to slip up.

"It's not out of the question but it's a tall order. Whatever happens, we will have a big say in who wins the league. If we can't win it ourselves, then we'd love Reich White to.

"They have started well and it's still in their hands, even though they have to play catch-up."

Reich Blue have now scored a whopping 22 goals in their last three games.

And little did they think their goal rush would continue against Haroldeans. Ben Gardner (2), Gary Freeman, Gabe Silva, Omni Parel and Andy Shaffer were all on target in the rout.

Shell-shocked Haroldeans boss Mike Bloomberg admits the mauling was a wake-up call.

He said: "This is a massive reality check for us. We were second best throughout and were beaten by a much better side.

Everything that could have wrong did go wrong. We were second to every ball and that's out of character.

"We have started well. But we will have to go back to the drawing board."
