Premier League trio eye Konate

articlemain

Maccabi Tel Aviv are preparing for a cash windfall following the heroics of striker Moussa Konate at the Olympic Games.

The Senegal striker, who signed a two-year contract with Maccabi last year, has attracted interested from Manchester City, Newcastle and West Ham after scoring three times in the first two games of the men’s football competition.

Konate, 19, scored a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Team GB before grabbing a first-half brace in the win over Uruguay.

Since joining from Senegalese club ASC Toure Kunda, Konate has scored five goals in 29 appearances for Maccabi, who have decided to wait until after the Games in the hope that a string of good performances would increase his value.

But with only three full international appearances to his name, Konate faces a fight to secure a UK work permit.
