Pinner JFC show determination

articlemain

Pinner JFC once again showed their resilience and determination with a 4-2 victory Away to Abbots Youth in the Watford Friendly League Green Division.

Things had not started well when on a smaller than average pitch, Abbots scored straight from the kick-off with keeper Sam Krisman blinded by the sun.

It was soon 2-0 as Pinner endured a torrid first 10 minutes without really getting into any rhythm.

However, some sterling defensive work from Daniel Schindler and two fine saves from Krisman ensured that the Sky Blues held on until half time.

At the break, some sterling coaching words motivated the boys to regain their self-belief where they came out fighting and dominated from the off.

Jordan Cowan was switched to centre back from his accustomed midfield role and put in a man-of-the-match performance.

In midfield, captain Danny Shina kept spirits high where the team were rewarded with a goal from his free kick five minutes into the half.

The Sky Blues now really stepped up and three minutes later Shina added a second. His midfield counterpart, Nathan Appleby, was also having a fine game holding a defensive midfield, whilst top-scorer Josh Caplan was linking well by dropping back and creating confusion in the Abbots defence.

With 15 minutes still remaining, the club's youngest player Zach Litenstone bundled the ball over the line in the defensive muddle to give Pinner the lead.

Abbots missed a good chance to equalise on the only occasion they broke through but that spurred the Sky Blues on further.

Jack Kahn, who joined the side midway through the season being a previous Pinner stalwart, continued his great scoring run with a good finish from close range to make it 4-2.

The victory moved Pinner four points clear of their opponents who had been on excellent form recently. After a difficult start the Sky Blues have now won five and drawn two of their last 11 league matches as they continually make huge improvements and aim to finish in a mid-table position that looked unlikely in the early stages of the season.
