A second-half strike from the evergreen Daryl Phillips kept Faithfold top of the table as they maintained their perfect record with a hard-fought win over Raiders at Chase Lodge.

Missing eight regulars, Faithfold had just enough for a Raiders team who finished with 10 men after midfielder David Rhodes went off with a groin injury after manager Rob Richman had used all three subs.

Faithfold player-manager Zuriel Solomon told JC Sport: "First half was pretty even although I thought we comfortable. Second half we upped the tempo and created numerous chances and the game should have been put to bed but you have to take your chances.

"Raiders are a tough team as we found out last season and we were sloppy in our own passing which gave them chances. A good move created our goal from some good football to be finished of clinically by Daryl

Raiders boss Rob Richman told JC Sport: "It was a very close game between two very evenly matched sides. The first goal was always going to be crucial and unfortunately after we missed a few gilt-edged chances in the first half.

"Our cause wasn’t helped when we went down to 10 men with 25 minutes of the game left and unfortunately Sunday was just one of those days where nothing went for us."
