Perlman honoured to host prestigious team

Stanley Perlman, the chairman of the Israel Cricket Association, says the visit of the Lords and Commons Cricket Club is a great honour for the country.

The group, which arrived in Israel yesterday, is made up of MPs from the Conservative and Labour parties and is led by former England spinner John Emburey.

And Perlman, who is hoping to hit Emburey out of the ground when he bats for the Chairman’s XI in Tel Aviv today, says the visit is a huge coup for his association.

“The ICA and Israel in general are very honoured to host our friends from England,” he told the JC.

“We’re delighted to see foreign dignitaries are happy to visit Israel and see the projects which have won world acclaim through the International Cricket Council prize system.

The party will visit the Cricket 4 Peace project in Beer Sheva as well as the scheme in the Bedouin village of Hura during their tour.
