Peer wins fifth tennis title

articlemain

Shahar Peer won her second consecutive WTA title after beating Akgul Amanmuradova 6-3 6-4 in the Tashkent Open.

Peer’s fifth career title saw her complete back-to-back tournaments without dropping a set. The victory lifted her to 34 in the rankings.

“That’s a nice feeling. I’m happy I’m playing well,” said Peer, 22. “I had played Akgul four times before and knew her game fairly well, but I knew it would be difficult. I tried to play my best and not give her any chances. I'm happy my father was with me these last two weeks, because I won both tournaments.”
