Peer slump continues

articlemain

Shahar Peer's miserable run of form continued when she crashed out of the French Open in the first round.

Peer, 24, reached as high as 11 in the WTA rankings at the start of the year but her slump continued at Roland Garros.

Seeded 18, the Israeli capitulated after a first-set tie-break, going down 6-1 in the second set against Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain.

There was better news for compatriot Dudi Sela who won the Uzbekistan Challenger.
