Peer slammed out as coach departs

articlemain

Struggling Shahar Peer has sacked her second coach in little over two months after being eliminated at the first round stage at Flushing Meadows.

After winning the first set, Israel's No. 1 lady was stunned into submission, losing 6-2, 0-6, 1-6 against Li Na of China.

Having parted company with Conchita Martinez in June, Peer sacked coach Martin Romak though she did not blame him for her defeat. "Only I'm to blame for my defeats," she said.
Ahead of their efforts to win the men's doubles, it has been confirmed that Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich are not about to split.

Keren Zlotikman, spokesperson for the pairing, and Ram's sister-in-law, said: "None of the rumours are true and Yoni has not for one moment considered retirement. They will continue playing together in all the major tournaments this year and they will be together next year."

Erlich took advantage of the break between the Olympics and the US Open to be present at the birth of his son Amit in Israel last week.

Zlotikman revealed that Erlich watched the Brit live from New York on a computer webcast set up by the family.
