Oxford student youngest boat race cox in century

articlemain

An English student from London will be the youngest cox in a century at the Oxford-Cambridge boat race this Saturday.

Sam Winter-Levy, a first-year student at New College, will cox for the Oxford Dark Blues team.

The 18-year-old became involved in rowing when he was a pupil at St Paul’s school.

Mr Winter-Levy, whose father also rowed while at Cambridge, represented England for the Home Counties level International regatta in 2009.

He said that although Oxford were the underdogs this year, he was still "pretty confident we can upset them".

"I'm pretty excited about it but a bit nervous," said Mr Winter-Levy.

"I'm just trying to focus on getting it right on the big day. I've wanted to do this for a while and I'm lucky to get the chance."
