Olympic effort overpowers Salford

articlemain

Salford Blue Jays suffered a heavy defeat to Olympic MSJ on Sunday at St Pauls.

Olympic won the toss and chose to bat and then punished some wayward Salford bowling. Opener Asif Shazzas hit 107 as Olympic reached 238 before being bowled out.

Caleb Blake (4-25) and Jonny Wineberg (2-41) exerted some control, but the target certainly looked a tough ask.

After losing Josh Henry with just four runs on the board, Rafi Dines and Jonny Wineberg proceeded to build a solid platform for Salford. They added 60 runs in 10 overs before Dines was bowled behind his legs for 16.

Wineberg was eventually out for 43 before a nice cameo from Jeremy Korn saw him hit 16 runs. However, Olympic swing bowler Amar Ilyas tore into Salford’s lower order, taking 4-25, as they were bowled out for 124.
