NWN opened their account for the season with a deserved hard fought 2-1 victories over a competitive and spirited Brixton side at Brickfield Lane.

With an intense pace set from the start, it was very nip and tuck in the opening exchanges and Brixton took the lead with their first shot of note through a 35-yard wonder strike from David Ronson who capped an impressive debut in central midfield.

This seemed to rally Neasden who took control for long periods of the game thereafter and deservedly equalised after a nice move involving Shai Davidi and Daniel Orgel before Kane Gilbery unselfishly laid it on a plate for Michael Field to open his account for the season.

Almost immediately the game had been turned on he's head as Josh Tiano set the lively Kane Gilbery free and he's cross was inadvertently turned into he's own goal by a Brixton defender.

The second half built a fair amount of territorial pressure as the went all out for the equaliser, but the clear-cut chances still fell to Neasden, who probably should have killed the game off.

NWN boss Andrew Goldman told JC Sport: "The first game of the season is about getting the all important three points. It was the a fair result in the end against a determined and committed Brixton side, who will cause a fair few sides problems this season."

Brixton chairman Rob Silverman told JC Sport: "Considering that we had nine players making their debut, our overall performance was encouraging. It will take us a few weeks to mould the side but I am confident that our new signings will flourish and results will then undoubtedly improve.

"Neasden deserved their victory even though their winner was an own goal."
