Northern football round-up: October 28

    Leeds Maccabi 1st produced a five-star showing as they continued their stunning start to the season.

    Ian Selwyn’s men cruised to a 5-0 away win at West Wortley to make it five wins from their opening six league games in the Sunday Alliance Premier Division.

    Dan Seligman continued his hot-streak with a classy double, while skipper Steven Berke also scored twice with Charlie Myers also on target.

    Leeds sit second in the league on goal difference, although they have played a game more than leaders New Unicorn F.C.

    South Manchester continued their recent good form with a convincing 5-0 win against Trinity.

    Adam Lavin stole the show for South, scoring four of the five with Bobby Abrams also getting in on the act.

    Manchester Maccabi 1st slumped to defeat in Division Two of the Tameside League, going down 4-2 against Silver Springs FC.

    In the MJSL, Manchester Maccabi 2nd moved to within three points of the summit after defeating Crumpsall 1st.

    Jake Kelly scored twice with Jake Berger and Ben Gould also on target as Maccabi 2nd claimed a comfortable 4-2 win.

    Mike Gastwirth and Moishe Klyne replied for Crumpsall, but they were unable to halt Maccabi’s unbeaten start to the season.

    Manchester Maccabi 3rd crushed Crumpsall 2nd 6-0 courtesy of a Moishe Hasid brace and further goals from Josh Gordon, Adam Kaye, Marcus Buchanan and Jack Myers.

    Oakhill rescued a point after fighting back from 4-1 down to draw 4-4 against Leeds Maccabi 2nd.

    Two goals from Rob Selwyn and strikes from Anthony Madden and Roy Skop helped the Manchester students stave off defeat.

    Josh Isaac’s double and efforts from Rob Stone and Jonny Skolnick had put Leeds in pole position before Oakhill roared back at the death.

    Broughton grabbed their first win of the season with a shock 5-3 victory over FC Cosmos.

    Max Seitler and Benji Bloom both scored twice with Jake Rubins also on target as Broughton moved above Cosmos into 10th place.

    Daniel Klapisch netted a double and Andrew Shaffer had kept Cosmos in contention.

    South Manchester Sports 2nd secured a 4-3 win over Leeds Maccabi students.

    Dan Linton, Mark Collins and two from Josh Klepper helped claim all three points for the visitors.

    Jordan Marks’ double and Alex Nyman’s proven in vain as the students slumped to defeat.
