Sheldon Lee blew the MJSL title race wide open after inflicting a shock defeat on league leaders Haroldeans.

The experienced defender scored twice as Manchester Maccabi 3rd claimed a 2-1 win over the Merseysiders.

Haroldeans had won all nine of their league games before taking on the reigning champions, but were unable to maintain their perfect record.

James Harris scored for Ivan Gee’s side, who are now just six points ahead of their nearest rivals.

Red-hot Oakhill continued their rich vein of form by moving ever closer to Haroldeans following a 3-0 win over Crumpsall.

Josh Daniels, Eli Gottlieb and Alex Goodman were on target for the Manchester Students, who remain unbeaten since the opening day.

South Manchester Sports Club 2nd were held to a 2-2 draw by Republic of Mancunia 2nd.

Darren Loofe and Lawrence Newman were on target for Neil Collins’ side with Blake Englander and Daniel Klapisch scoring for Republic.

Oli Grant and David Cohen both grabbed hat-tricks as Hyde Park Rovers thrashed basement boys Broughton 8-0.

Captain Ben Roback and Dan Seligman were also on the scoresheet as Rovers gained their fourth league win of the season.

Leeds Maccabi 3rd are still searching for their first win of the season after going down 2-0 against Republic of Mancunia 1st.

Paul Basger and Mike Gastwirth got the goals for Les Blackston’s side, who now have 17 points from 11 games.
