Republic of Mancunia were forced to put the champagne on ice after Haroldeans played the role of party poopers.

Republic had hoped to clinch the MJSL league title for the very first time with victory on Merseyside, but the defending champions pulled off an impressive 2-1 victory to deny Stuart Delmonte’s men.

Jamie Harris and Adam Shiffman were both on target for the home side with Adam Tauber netting a consolation for Republic.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday in the final of the Harold Feldman Trophy at Oldham Athletic’s Boundary Park.

Elsewhere, Leeds Maccabi 2nd grabbed a 3-1 win at Broughton in its final league game of the season.

Nicky Jacobs, Daniel Herschovitz and Yossi Saunders got the goals for the visitors with Jeremy Barr registering for Broughton.

In the Shonn Trophy, Crumpsall booked their place in the semi finals following a 2-1 win over Oakhill.

Benji Silverman and Mike Gastwirth set up a last four tie against Haroldeans with Robert Selwyn’s strike proving in vain for the Manchester students.

Meanwhile, South Manchester Sports 1st continued their march towards the Accountants League Premier Division title with a 3-0 win over Iraq FC courtesy of an Adam Lavin double and a Mike Stratton stike.
