Norstar sign Raiders trio

articlemain

Norstar completed the signing of a trio of players from North London Raiders on Wednesday with Danny Bloom, Mark Leader and Ben Sheldon all moving from Brunel to John Lyon.

Manager Phil Peters and assistant Jamie Slavin worked with Bloom and Sheldon at the recent European Maccabi Trophies in Torremolinos and Marseille so know what they are capable of, whilst Leader is someone they've had their eye on for a number of years.

Bloom tweeted last night 'Officially signed for @NorstarOfficial #Ionlyplayinorange' with a picture of him and A-team manager Phil Peters.

After their promotion to the top division it was thought Peters would be looking to strengthen and he's wasted no time snapping up a wealth of Premiership experience with JJ Spiro also joining from London Lions.

Norstar are known for their desire to blend youth with experience - as evidenced with the emergency of such players as Ben Eliad and Jeff Gotch in recent seasons - and Peters has shown that's still the case, beating several rival clubs to bring in 18 year-old Alex Jacobs.

Jacobs was one of the stars of the Brady Maccabi under-18s squad last season and is definitely one to watch.

With Sammy Kalms and Adam Kaldor returning from long-term injuries at just the right time things are looking good for Norstar.

A convincing 5-1 victory against SPEC last week followed on from a 1-0 win over Neasden A in July. New boys Jacobs and Leader found the back of the net whilst Josh Green bagged a brace and full back Sam Isaacs also popped up in the right place.

Having masterminded four consecutive promotions, could Peters and Slavin be about to pull off something special yet again this season?

A friendly against Brady this weekend will give them a better idea of what they still have to do with the league season just three weeks away.
