No-show a one-off, says Landesberg

Andy Landesberg says there is no reason to panic after London Maccabi Lions’ flagship Sunday team pulled out of their MGBSFL match against Brady Maccabi A due to a shortage of players.

The Cyril Anekstein Cup winners have made a poor start to the Premier Division season, losing their first two games, but Landesberg said their no-show was down to a number of factors.

"I certainly expect it to be a one-off,” said Landesberg, who is Director of Football at Lions.

"Unfortunately it was Fresher’s Week, but the fact we could not put out 11 players was unacceptable to us and we will address the situation.”

There was, however, some good news for the Rowley Lane club after Max Kyte was called up for the England under-21 futsal squad.

Landesberg said: “Max had a fantastic experience for Team GB at the Maccabiah Games in Israel. He works tirelessly at his game and is a fantastic athlete.

"This is very exciting news for Max, the club and Jewish football."
