articlemain

Josh Newman is the new British Under 13 trampolining champion.

Newman took gold with a score of 83.0 at Great British National finals at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham - winning by a margin of 0.9 points.

Coached by coach Paul Kitchen, Newman qualified in first place following the set and voluntary routines, holding a 1.9 point lead, which meant his score carried over into the final where the top eight competed in reverse order.

The final competitor, Newman, 12, produced his best routine of the weekend with combinations and three doubles but keeping his trademark poise and elegance to wow the judges into providing him with the top marks

Newman said: "This has been the best day of my life - winning the national title at my first attempt and in my barmitzvah year as well. I'm so happy."

Newman is a pupil at King Solomon High School and a member of Brentwood trampoline club.
