SOUTHGATE HARMEN 0 BRADY MACCABI B 3
Brady B moved back level with Woodford at the top of Division One after securing a comprehensive 3-0 win at Chase Lodge against Southgate Harmen on Sunday.
Josh Dagul made several changes to the side that beat SPEC FC the last time the boys in red played, with Jerome Colmans and David Newman replacing Dan Korn and Elli Dagul respectively.
This was Brady B's first league meeting with Harmen - the Southgate side were enjoying their push for promotion and Dagul knew his side would be fully tested.
A relatively quiet first half burst into action in the second with a 15-minute three-goal salvo from the Brady boys. First Reiss Mogilner picked up where he left off against SPEC, scoring with a magnificent low drive that beat Harmen keeper Harry Fine.
Shortly after, new signing Newman popped up on his debut to head home from a Reiss Mogilner in swinging free kick - sparking pandemonium on the Brady bench. A dream debut for the new signing. And to impound more heartache on the Harmen boys, Mogilner scored his second of the game and Brady's third with a spectacular solo effort, the ball cannoning off both posts before settling in the net from 25 yards.
Although the scoreline may have flattered the Brady boys, their clean sheet didn't. Brady's defence were hardly threatened, apart from a few minor scares in the first half, most notably Jerome Colmans denying Alex Bowman when the ex-Brady man looked certain to score. A solid defensive display by Dagul's boys, and one that certainly pleased him.
Brady boss Josh Dagul told JC Sport: "We knew coming here it would be a difficult game. The pitch didn't suit our style of play and the boys knew we'd have to adapt. Harmen were the better side in the first half, but having come in at half time with the scores level and having not played particularly well we knew we'd have a good chance in the second half.
"This was a big chance for us to stake our claim for promotion and the boys didn't let me down - our second half performance was excellent and in the 15-minute spell, where we scored the three goals, Harmen were chasing shadows.
"From 1-11 I can't knock the boys. At the back, Ben Hildebrand and Henry Ziff were colossus. Through the middle David Newman and Simon Moses were immense and up top Reiss Mogilner showed why he's previously been recognised as the best young player in the MSFL. Also a special mention to Jerome Colmans. I hope this will give us the momentum going forward and in our bid for three successive promotions."
Henry Ziff said: "When I first met the gaffer in Monaco in May and he stated his ambitions for the season I was immediately sold. Performances like today prove my decision to join this illustrious club to be the right decision in my career."
Elliott Dagul, Chairman of the Brady B Supporters Trust, added: "The fans were superb today and the players repaid them with a superb performance. When you take eight travelling fans, to a tiring 10-mile round trip away game, you expect the boys to put in a performance and today they did. Hats off to the lads."
