Netanya surrenders as England march on

articlemain

England FC maintained their grip at the top of the JC Olim League after beating Netanya 5-1.

A shock looked on the cards in the early stages as Netanya forged ahead from the penalty spot.

England hit back in the second half with quickfire strikes from Yaron Galinsky and a long-range effort from Brad Bernstein putting them ahead. Jonny Binke, the former London Maccabi Lions striker, extended the lead with a 25-yard free kick.

Late strikes from Yarden Bar Ness and captain Yoni Sidi clinched the points.

Jerusalem and Jaffa City shared the points following a four-goal thriller.

David Zackon fired against the bar early on for Jerusalem. They went ahead minutes before the break through North West Neasden old boy Eli Warner.

Scottish striker Josh Berkley drew Jaffa level with his sixth of the season following a pinpoint cross from Elias Sandler.

Zackon restored Jerusalem's lead but Jaffa found a second equaliser when Josh Berkley released Daniel Berkley who beat the keeper with ease.

Jaffa were reduced to 10 men for the last 15 minutes when Josh Berkley was sent off after picking up two yellow cards for dissent in quick succession but they held on admirably for a hard-earned point.
