Elitzur Ramla became the first-ever Israeli team to win the women's basketball EuroCup.

Having tied the first leg of the final 61-61 against Arras in Israel last week, Elitzur Ramla won the second leg 61-53 in France.

The French side led 13-5 after the first quarter but the Israelis stormed ahead to lead 33-22 in the second quarter and never looked back.

US imports Laine Selwyn and LeCoe Willingham scored 15 points each, while captain Shay Doron netted 14 points.

Former WNBA star Doron said: "There was an amazing atmosphere that no words can describe. The huge season that Elitzur Ramla have had is a boost to women's basketball in Israel."

Ramla hope to complete an historic Israeli women's basketball treble having already won the State Cup while they are also leading in the league.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu phoned Ramla coach Eden Inbar to congratulate him on the team's success. Inbar said: "It only sank in that we were European champions at the final buzzer. It was tough but we played a very clever game and the girls deserved to celebrate."
