Miss Swaine, Head of Physical Education at Immanuel, said: "This is a really good start to the season. We have strong teams playing this year, and the girls' great attitude and teamwork, and the exceptional level of professionalism from each of the team captains, have brought Immanuel College an early victory in this league."

Scott Shulton, Maccabi GB's School Sports Co-ordinator, said: "We have an extremely busy tournament schedule this year which signifies how much interest there is in increasing the quality of the sports played in Jewish schools. "Despite the cold and wet weather, we have seen 130 girls turn up to represent their schools and compete. It's great to see their passion and dedication."

The Secondary Schools' tournament for the Year 10, 11 and sixth form students takes place on November 2.
