Neasden fail in FA cup bid

articlemain

North West Neasden A’s dreams of becoming the first Jewish team to win the Sunday FA Cup were quashed as they lost a 10-goal thriller against Sungate in Ilford.

Having lost in the LFA Sunday Challenge Cup last week, NWN let slip a 2-0 and 4-2 lead in a tie they finished nine men after Tony Keterman and Jake Gottlieb were sent off.

James Gershfield, Lee Cash, Danny Daggers and an own goal accounted for the NWN goals.

NWN joint-manager Jamie Cole said: “It felt like we played against 12 men as they had the referee firmly on their side.

“Unfortunately the ref bottled it in a big game. Had it stayed 11 vs 11, I’m sure that we’d be in the next round.

“Credit to the team, they gave everything and never gave up.”

NWN Team: Max Shields, Adam Levene, Jonny Ellis (capt), Scott Shindler, Jake Gottlieb, Daniel Cole, Matt Sofier, Danny Daggers, Daniel Stanton, Lee Cash, James Gershfield
