National call-up for Newman

articlemain

Josh Newman has been selected to represent Great Britain at next month’s World Trampolining Championships in Bulgaria.

Newman, who is from Billericay, will compete in the individual and synchro events. He will also represent his country again at the Germany versus Great Britain youth match in Cottbus in two weeks time.

Newman has been rewarded following his excellent performances at the trials, where he smashed his best scores by three marks and won his age event over two weekends.

He has been awarded an inspired athlete county council award from Active Essex - a legacy from the Olympics.

Newman will be competing at Welsh Cup in Cardiff this weekend as preparation for the upcoming international events, followed by the Kent Open next weekend.

He will be increasing his tariff to a new high of 14.4 and hopes to perfect this new routine over the coming weeks as he looks to become world age champion.
