articlemain

Joel Nathan will manage Team GB’s junior football team at next year’s European Maccabi Games in Vienna.

Nathan has been involved in junior Maccabi football for more than 10 years and led the Under 16 squad at last summer’s Maccabiah Games.

Greg Bookman, manager of Redbridge Jewish Care A, will assistant Nathan. The former Wingate & Finchley player is widely regarded as one of the best young Jewish coaches on the circuit, having worked with a number of Professional Academies.

Ex-professional coach Chris O’Brien will take on the role of coach. He worked with the Masters Over 35’s at last year’s Maccabiah and 2007 Pan American Games. Chris, who holds a UEFA B license, is also a coach at the Manchester United Academy.

Nathan said: “Chris, Greg and I are delighted to have been chosen to form the Under 16 Football management team. Personally, having been involved in the last Maccabiah Games as coach to the under 16’s, I feel honoured that I have now been asked to step up and manage the 16s at the European Maccabi Games. I look forward to working closely with both Chris and Greg over the next 15 months forming a team capable of bringing home the gold medal.”

Applications are now being accepted online at www.maccabigb.org.
