MACCABI MANCHESTER 2nd 2 HAROLDEANS 1

Harry Myers grabbed the second-half winner as runaway MSJL Premier League leaders Maccabi Manchester 2nds survived a scare against Haroldeans.

The hosts’ 100 per cent record was in danger after Matthew Alis fired the Merseysiders into an early lead at Brooklands.

But Jack Myers levelled before the break and brother Harry struck in the 70th minute to clinch another win.

Maccabi Manchester 2nds chief Irving Modlin said: "We had to work hard in pretty poor conditions to earn this win.

"The wind played havoc at times, but we held our nerve when it mattered to see the job through.

"We did not panic when we fell behind and we fully warranted this victory."

Haroldeans boss Fraser Saville was disappointed to have left empty-handed.

He said: "It was a close game and we pushed a good side all the way.

"They told us we were the best team they have played so that is a big compliment and proves we are heading in the right direction."
