It's all change at FC Team B

David Gordon reflected on a busy week, and much-needed win, at FC Team following the departure of managers Ben Gilbey and Mike Myers.

Languishing towards the foot of MGBSFL Division Two, a number of players also departed prior to their match against Boca Jewniors.

Two cracking goals from Eddie Sternberg plus one from Adam Newsome rolled back the years as FC Team B secured a win that saw them put daylight between them and their fellow strugglers.

Club chairman Mitch Young spent most of last week recruiting players, including several former players, while Gordon was confirmed as manager for the rest of the season.

Reflecting on the 3-0 win, Gordon told JC Sport: "I must say congratulations to the boys. Big changes have taken place this week and most of the boys have come in having not played for years in some cases, and put in a solid well-rounded performance.

"We were never troubled by Boca, despite what they have said post-match, and I didn’t have a single noteworthy shot to save. Defensively we were fantastic even though three of the four defenders were only drafted in this week. Ahead of them the midfield was solid and created some good chances and up top we were clinical and thoroughly deserved to win the game. The attitude of the team was excellent with everyone pulling together to produce a hard working performance, with the guys willing to put their bodies on the line for the cause.

"It was great to see some old faces back with us and I hope that we can build on this and have a good second half of the season. Finally, I want to say thank you to Gilbey and Mike who gave it everything this season. Unfortunately things didn’t turn out the way everyone hoped that they would but I hope that we’ll see them back again soon.”

Boca's Anton Nyman told JC Sport: "We really didn't play badly and a 3-0 scoreline doesn't justify the scoreline. There was a number of dubious offsides given against us but we couldn't take our chances and gave them sloppy goals."
