articlemain

Dan Garman’s hat-trick inspired Republic of Flixton to a crushing 7-0 win over FC Cosmos.

Garman netted a classy treble, while Saul Shapiro’s brace and further strikes by Daniel Selwyn and Jacob Shapiro completed the rout.

Republic sit four points clear at the top of the MJSL after making it three wins from their opening five games, but defending champions Haroldeans are on the charge without even kicking a ball.

The Merseysiders have six points from their first two games with both matches having been called off after the opposition failed to raise a team.

Haroldeans had been schedule to face Crumpsall 2nd last weekend, but will now hope to kick off their season against Broughton on Sunday.

Broughton picked up their first point of the season after claiming a creditable 3-3 draw against Manchester Maccabi 3rd.

Nathan Pitt, Mikey Balkin and Jake Rubins were on target for last year’s basement boys, with Jake Myers (2) and Marc Magid replying for Maccabi.

Johnny Goldstone and Nick Vale were on target for Leeds Maccabi 3rd as they held Manchester Maccabi 2nd to a 2-2 draw.

Harry Myers and Sam Modlin got the goals for the visitors.

South Manchester Sports Club 2nd recorded their first win of the season courtesy of Dan Linton’s solitary strike against Crumpsall 1st.
