MJSL ease to victory

articlemain

An MJSL XI beat a Manchester Maccabi XI 3-0 in a game played in memory of Darren Rose.

Jack Lee scored twice and Dave Eden added the other for the MJSL team co--managed by Fraser Saville and Neil Collins.

"The point of the exercise was to give a lot of the boys a run out and they were positive about it. It was a young side and we will definitely do that again," said Haroldeans assistant Saville.

South Manchester's Collins added: "Each and every one entered into the true spirit of what the MJSL is about.

"Of more importance was to the memory and of the occasion to Darren Rose's family!"

Made up of players from Republic of Mancunia, Haroldeans and South Manchester, it took just seven minutes for the MJSL to open the scoring with South Manchester youngster Lee curling a free kick home in spectacular fashion.

Barely ten minutes later the lead was doubled as Republic's Eden headed past Dave Garman.

Lee got his second of the game late on by beating Garman to a through ball to finish the game off.

Stuart Delmonte, the Maccabi manager, said: "The best team won. It was played in a good spirit and if the MJSL Maccabi can hold this event annually it's for a good cause."

* Delmonte's team have been busy in pre-season with a series of practice games lined up. They have drawn one and won three of their four friendlies.
