Milch happy to play waiting game for now

Tony Milch is counting down the days until he returns to the ring.

Milch, who won the International Challenger Belt in August, has confirmed his next bout at York Hall.

The Bushey bruiser is due to fight in a six-round non-title fight on November 5.

And Milch, whose opponent has yet to be named, has promised fireworks.

He said: “It’s not a step back. We just decided to wait a bit longer for a title fight.

"I could have waited until next year but I wanted to get back into the ring. It’s important to stay sharp and on top of my game. Only so much training can do that. So I’m ready for another test."

It will be Milch’s 12th professional fight and first since beating Bulagrian Konstain Aleksandrov in the light middleweight bout at Bethnal Green.

He said: "You are on such a high but it’s important to stay grounded and get back to what you know best. That is to prepare well by training hard. I’ve had a little break and I’m ready go again."

But Milch has no plans to face Josh Burnham, who made an eye-catching start to his pro career.

He said: “Josh is at the start of his pro career while I’ve been around a lot longer. He’s not on my radar at the moment. I wish him the best of luck.”
