Maynard is the one to watch, says Gothelf

Zack Gothelf has warned Hyde Park Rovers to expect a titanic tussle in part two of the epic student derby encounter.

The MJSL rivals were involved in a pulsating 2-2 draw last Wednesday and will go head-to-head once again at Frederick Road just seven days after their last meeting.

And having watched his side produce a performance full of fight and courage against Peter Morrison Trophy holders Manchester Maccabi 1st, Gothelf is now targeting three points against their Leeds-based foes.

“We’re going to go into the Hyde Park game with our strongest team so far this season,” said the Oakhill boss.

“I know we lost to Manchester 1st but the performance was excellent and we really showed that we can play as a unit.

“We were organised, we played for one another and defended really well.

“I think we can take a lot of positives from it and hopefully get a result against Hyde Park.”

Gothelf will have the prolific Marc Maynard available after the striker was forced off with a head injury during Sunday’s 3-0 defeat.

Maynard needed stitches after suffering a cut to his head during an innocuous looking clash but has recovered in time to play his final match before a three-game suspension.

“Marc Maynard is a big player for us so it’s great that he’ll be back for Wednesday,” added Gothelf.

“Marc Woolfe is also going to play so from an attacking point of view we’re looking very strong.

“It’s going to be a great game and if it’s anything like last week it should be really exciting.”
