HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A vs LONDON MACCABI LIONS BLUE
Two down, one to go. That’s the scenario for Hendon (and the backpage headline on this week’s JC!)

The Hammers were good value for their 3-0 win at Wingate last Sunday, when they ran out worthy winners against table-toppers NLR. Now their can give their full focus on their league run-in, with two games against LML Blue sandwiched in between another meeting with Morrison finalists Oakwood. Maximum points would see them win the title by three points.

Unbeaten in Jewish football all season, Hendon have not been as free-scoring in the league as in the cup competitions, but gaffer David Garbacz knows an ugly 1-0 will do on Sunday.

He told JC Sport: "The boys will be receiving one message loud and clear on Sunday morning – do not be complacent.

"The celebrations from last week have not long died down, but now we know we have a job to finish in the league. The tables have turned and whilst a few weeks ago everyone was handing over the title to Norstar, now those same pundits are giving it to us.

"We are now expected to go on and win it which makes the pressure bigger, and we know that any slip ups like the great Liverpool FC, and we will have handed the initiative right back

"You never know what to expect from Lions and we will be expecting a proper tough match. Saying that we are full of confidence, as you’d expect, and with the invincible tag still in place our motivation is huge.

"Look out for Yehuda Korman – he was superb when he came on last week and will probably be in from the off this week. This is a serious talent and will be worth the entrance money to see him in full flow.

"As long as we can pick off where we left last week I am very hopeful that we will be three points closer to Norstar come Sunday afternoon."

LML are safe and they’ve earned bragging rights at Rowley Lane this season after finishing higher than their White team. But manager Jamie Kyte knows big changes are needed if they are to go places next season.

Having given NLR two tough games (1-0 and 2-0), LML will not roll over on Sunday, but I can see momentum helping Hendon over the line.

JC team news: Rafi Kon and Alex Rosenthal are both out injured for Hendon – "in Alex’s case probably for the season after injuring himself last week".

OAKWOOD vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A (DOUBLE-HEADER)
Oakwood returned to winning ways in style after their PMT heartbreak, which tells you everything about them you need to know.

A top three finish is still on, but only if they get the better of Sunday’s double-header against Redbridge – not the ideal preparation for Hendon next week.

David Woolman produced a master-class against LML Blue last weekend and he’ll be looking to maul the Lions in the two-hour football marathon moved to the Lane on Sunday.

While Woolman was the star man last week, Brad Wine has been one of the stars for the show for the Oaks all season. Having led the Lions a merry dance, he’ll be up for more of the same against what is rumoured to be a very young RJC team.

Jon Jacobs is expected to be in charge of the visitors on Sunday, and fans could be treated to one if not two of the Sollosi brothers.

It’ll be a massive ask for either team to pick up maximum points on Sunday, but stranger things have happened.

DC Prediction: Oakwood 2 RJC 1, RJC 1 Oakwood 1
