HARMEN vs NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS A
Match of the day sees title hopefuls Hendon and Raiders lock horns for the second time this season.

If you recall, Harmen were the first Jewish team to beat Raiders this season so there will be a certain element of revenge on the minds of Rob Richman’s men. James Gershfield, who else, was the match-winner that day.

Raiders have responded superbly since, with three wins, a draw and just the one defeat since, and Harmen’s draw against Hendon last week did them a favour. Although it’s a massive ask, Richman and co know that if they can win their remaining league games, they would be crowned champions and give chairman Jonathan Adelman the title he so desperately wants. The club deserves it.

But Richman has been in the game long enough to know L’Orange must take it one game at a time.

He told JC Sport: “Harmen have shown throughout this season that they are very much a force to be reckoned with, and I’m sure they will still have eyes on winning the league.

“They beat us earlier this season in a game where we really didn’t show up at all and we must not make the same mistake again.

“This Harmen game marks the start of a really exciting and pivotal couple of months for us and we are all determined and focused to get a good result on Sunday to set us up for the games ahead.”

Max Shields produced his finest performance of the season as Harmen earned a valuable point on Sunday, with George Fierstone their stand-out performer outfield.

It was important that new striker Dan Green hit the ground running and he did just that with the opening goal. Harmen were unable to build on it, but it certainly wasn’t for the lack of trying.

I fully expect Team Maccabi GB scouts to be in the stands for what promises to be an enthralling encounter.
With James Gershfield, Mike Pearson, Alex Bowman, Fierstone and Green expected to feature for Harmen, and David Dinkin, Matt Stock and Liron Mannie in contention for Raiders, it’s definitely one not to miss. Oh, and don’t forget about the battle of the keepers, with Jake Doffman keen to outshine Shields.

As for a winner, try flipping a coin.

JC team news: Josh Morris returns from a two- week absence, but otherwise the squad will be very similar to that which played South Manchester Maccabi last weekend.

OAKWOOD A vs FAITHFOLD A
Ric Blank is predicting a physical encounter on Sunday when Oakwood entertain Faithfold.

Having secured their spot in the last four of the League Cup, it’s all about accumulating points in the league for the moment as they look to climb the table. Oakwood fans were delighted to see David Woolman and Jonny Quinn hit it off up top against Neasden last week in their fourth win of the league campaign.

Momentum is the name of the game now for a team packed with quality from front to back. Ahead of the meeting with the former champions, Blank told JC Sport: “With news that our semi-final against Raiders is now just two weeks away, we have to turn our mini-renaissance into a proper comeback.

“We're playing some good stuff at the minute, with plenty of room for improvement. We've beaten Faithfold twice this season but know you never get an easy game against them. They're a physical side - but so are we.

“They're always good games played in decent spirits between the sides - i hope that continues on Sunday."
As per Oakwood, a mid-table finish looks like for Faithfold. They have overcome a wobble and the loss of some experienced players in the shape of Alex Levack and Daryl Phillips, and they have started to find their rhythm again.

Dan Stock and Nick Smith were rock solid in defence in the goalless draw at Lions last week, with Bradley Cohen keeping things ticking over in midfield.

Solomon holds Oakwood in high regards, but with his team playing with confidence, they’ll be going for the win.

“We have picked up a bit of form three wins and a draw in the last four games, so we have a bit of confidence and a bit of belief, even though we really have struggled to have good numbers each week.

“Oakwood are a decent team and on their day tough to play against, and I am sure they are confident they can get a result as they have beaten us twice this season.

“But we will make sure we work hard and see where this takes us on Sunday.”

I don't expect there to be too much betwee the sides, but expect home advantage to prove decisive.

JC team news: Oakwood are missing Josh Bentley (holiday). Simon Davies and Harvey Kaye are away travelling. Such youth!

HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A vs NORTH WEST NEASDEN
I had this marked down as a home banker until I caught up with Hendon boss David Garbacz in the run-up to the game. He told me the defending champions are down to the bare bones, so anything planning to put this on their Super 6 list should think again.

The Reds were forced to settle for a point at Harmen last week, even though they did enough to win two games. Harmen had chances of their own, but in general Alex Rosenthal dealt superbly with the threat of James Gershfield.

With leaders Redbridge not in action, Hendon have the perfect chance to finish the weekend in top spot, but with depleted numbers, patience could be the name of the game against a Neasden team likely to get numbers behind the ball.

Garbacz told JC Sport: “Once again we find our squad stretched to the absolute limit this week. It seems one week we have everyone fit and available and another week we struggle.

“We have big doubts this week over big players like Greg Corin, Ben Lauffer and Avidan Last will make this match more uncomfortable than it might otherwise have been, whilst others are simply away and unavailable.

“Neasden will have their own agenda – they will be desperate to pick up some points for themselves and any feet taken off the gas by us will be properly punished I’m sure.

“We have a run of league games coming up which on paper look winnable – but each one has to be treated with respect, and if we are to maintain our strong title challenge no more points can be dropped against anyone.

“From here on in we need to go on a run of good wins and hopefully we can get a decent one this week.”
By and large, Neasden have done okay against the top teams. They pushed Redbridge close on both occasions and mustn’t be under-estimated.

My concern is where the goals will come from, especially against the division’s meanest defence.

JC team news: Hendon are “hugely depleted” this week. Ari Last, David Seitler, Yoav Kestenbaum, Rafi Kon and Avidan Last all miss out. Ben Lauffer and Greg Corin are rated “extremely doubtful”. There is a tiny chance of a guest one-off appearance from Hendon legend Josh Lipman who is in London this week, but needs family permission to play.

WOODFORD WANDERERS vs MACCABI LONDON LIONS BLUE
Dumped out of the cup by Leeds Maccabi, it’s all about the league for Woodford from here on in, and survival.

Mitch Hahn’s men have seven games left, that’s 630 minutes plus a bit of injury time to save their season. The next three games – Raiders, Hendon and Oakwood – already look like a write-off, so Sunday is essentially it’s a must-win.

Hahn was broiges with the match officials last week, but that game is done now. It’s crucial he and the Woodford boys move on. From now until the end of the season, every game must be treated like a cup final.

Jamie Kyte describes the return of Rick Jacobson as “massive” for the Lions who beat Woodford 4-2 in January. Connor Perl was their match-winner that day.

It’s clear the Lions have high hopes ahead of kick-off. Jamie Kyte told JC Sport: “We've struggled to get goals since the new year and I'm hoping Rick will change that.”

There’s a glimmer of hope for Woodford on Sunday as MLL’s away form has been decidedly dodgy, but a home defeat would really be worst-case scenario.

Like last time we need to keep Mitch quiet

BRADY MACCABI vs LOS BLANCOS
Brady have drawn their last two games 3-3 – and that tells you everything you need to know about them right now.

They have the players and squad capable of pushing for promotion, but moments of brilliance have come hand in hand with moments of madness at the back.

That said, they showed real character against Raiders last week, another game in which Reiss Mogilner was the star of the show. How many matchballs is that he’s taken home with him now?

Blancos are one of the league’s form teams at the minute and I’d like to think striker Simon Moses will receive a warm reception from the club he left earlier in the season.

The whites are buzzing and boss Jonathan Ison cannot wait for kick-off. He told JC Sport: “We are excited about finally getting back to business - it's been far too long.

“We're are eight games unbeaten and have a strong squad out on Sunday, as everyone wants to get involved at the moment.

“Lewis has returned from his training camp in Amsterdam, and is looking every bit the player that played so well last season.

Simon Moses and Adam Hersh are in great form at the moment, and we're hoping they can continue to work together to score the goals, whilst Benjy Israel continues to command the ever-changing defence at the back.

“We’re hoping to bring the three points home on Sunday.”

Brady still harbour hopes of finishing above Blancos, but I can see both sets of fans going home happy with a point apiece.

NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS B vs BLIZZARD STORM
The race for that coveted second promotion spot is still up for grabs, and Simon Linden believes his Blizzard boys can pick NLR’s pockets.

A win on Sunday would lift them to within two points of L’Orange, and the teams meet again in a couple of weeks. Victory in both those games would really make things interesting …

It was vital Blizzard bounced back from the SPEC FC defeat and gaffer Linden was delighted not only by the result, but also the clean sheet – their fourth of the season.

Linden was also pleased to see a couple of his unsung heroes – Conor Brand and Robbie Berwald chip in on the goal front.

Looking ahead to Sunday, he told JC Sport: “It's a big opportunity to join into the promotion running.

“I will need a big performance from my team; we know Raiders will be tough, they have only lost one league game in two seasons which makes the reward something special if we can take three points off them.

“We did it against Redbridge and will be ready for Raiders.”

Raiders have found a system to pick up points when not at their best. They were determined not to be beaten by Brady last week, with Lewis Blitz, Jake Gilbert and Jacob Gold on the mark to ensure a hard-earned point. But I think they are in for a very different kind of game on Sunday.

I’m predicting a cagey affair and can see the Blizzard boys pinching a point.

BRIXTON OLD BOYS vs SPEC FC
The season starts now for Brixton. And, er, it finishes for SPEC FC on Sunday. The league campaign that is. Quite incredible, I say. No doubt the visitors will be looking to go out with a bang as they go in search of win no. 6.

Their last performance and result was massive and manager Michael Rhodes and Ricky Lawrence are keen for a repeat performance.

They overcame Brixton 4-2 in September and Lawrence believes they will get the right result on Sunday.

He told JC Sport: "It's our final game in the league, and it's on the first of February, this must be a record!

“We're confident that three points will see us finish outside the relegation zone, but we can't be complacent and know that a loss will really put Brixton's tails up for their remaining games.

“We've got a strong squad available and we're hoping the weather holds out."

Alan Aaronson is still looking for the formula to make Brixton hard to beat. They have struggled against the teams at the top, middle and bottom and time is running out.

It's really a case of now or never but I expect SPEC FC to bow out in a trail of glory.

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B vs CAMDEN PARK
Table-toppers Redbridge B picked up three points during the week without even playing. Sitting pretty at the summit, I’ve heard that some bookmakers have already paid out on Jon Jacobs’s men winning the title.

But Jacobs is taking nothing for granted, especially with testing trips to Raiders and Blancos to follow. But come through that and then no-one could argue they are worthy champions.

But Jacobs has banned the C-word from the dressing room. He wants his boys to take it one game at a time and he knows they mustn’t under-estimate Camden.

Nathan Sollosi was RJC’s match-winner the last time the team’s met, but it’s been all about Daniel Garfinkle in recent weeks. The boy just cannot stop scoring. He looks a cast-iron bet for Young Player of the Year.

Camden will feel they have a point to prove. They missed a whole host of chances in that game and even though they have scored on a regular basis this season, Max Saunders knows it could all come down to small details in the end, such as those two games against Blancos.

Ahead of kick-off, Saunders told JC Sport: “Promotion is very unlikely now, as we are relying on Norstar dropping a considerable amount of points. All we can is focus on winning our remaining two games and hope for the best.

“Redbridge have been the stand-out team in our division this season and we will enjoy facing them in what will be a very enjoyable game between two good sides.”

Camden’s away form this season has been decent, but Redbridge are unbeaten on their own patch and it will take something special to end that proud record.

JC team news: Camden strikers Richard Silver and Rob Hershkorn are unavailable for the game. Saunders told JC Sport: “They are two important players and will be missed, but we will cope without them. David Khalastchi is returning from his one-month excursion to South Africa.”

FC TEAM B vs OAKWOOD B
Jason Stein has bolstered his squad ahead of Oakwood trip to Welwyn Garden City as the visitors attempt to gate-crash the FC Team party on Sunday.

The mighty Oaks are still gunning for a top four finish and Stein believes that victory over the leaders will make their intentions clear.

But he could help but take a swipe at his predecessor during our pre-match interview.
“DC, welcome,” Stein told JC Sport. “Please help yourself to complimentary glass of squash. You'll note it's premium squash and that's because we're celebrating at Oakwood HQ this week.

"For two reasons. One, we didn't lose last week. Okay, we didn't play because our game was called off, but we didn't lose. Secondly, we've managed to do a bit of business. James Abrams joins Dan Abrams as new additions and full back Jonny Beilin has signed on loan from the A's.

"I did invite club chairman Ric Blank to this press conference, but he's otherwise engaged. However, I want to take this opportunity to publicly discuss, for the first time, the perncious #SteinOut hashtag being waged by my predecessor Ian Tussie.

"Now I'll be careful with my words, but, at best, this is a humourous attempt by Tussie to fill the Oakwood void in his life. At worst, it's a malicious attempt to deliberarely destable my team and I will not be scared into silence.

"Ian and I shook hands on Sunday following the Raiders-South match, but his social media attacks have continued.

"Ian: you had your time on the Oakwood sidelines and you did okay. But it was time to say goodbye and as a supposed club legend you must choose your words carefully. I am in the first year of a rebuilding plan and I'm glad Ric is affording me the time to develop my philosphy.

"Ian and I could have enjoyed a lovely relationship, but he has chosen to go down the Clough-Revie route. I will not stand for it and my greatest pride at this club will be knocking Ian off his perch. And you can print that."

AN OPEN LETTER FROM IAN TUSSIE

Team have won 11 out of 13 and have settled into their new Gosling Park home well, with big wins over Raiders, Mill Hill and Jewdinese. Quite incredibly, they have not conceded in over 450 minutes, the first clean sheet of which was against the Oaks.

But manager Mitch Young has challenge his troops to finish the season in style. He told JC Sport: “We have three games to go - three wins and the title is ours. Full steam ahead!"

Team have been formidable on their own patch, with the exception of the derby. I expect Oakwood to give them a proper test, but much depends on how they handle the threat of Salmon, Binder and Madanes.

There’s quality on both sides and although Oakwood will huff and puff, I think Team will have just too much on the day.

JC team news: Jonny Breger and Andy Sheena miss out for Team, but they welcome back Ben Binder.

James Abrams, Dan Abrams and Jonny Beilin will all feature for Oakwood. Nicky Harris returns in midfield after footballing paternity leave.

AC WHETSTONE vs JEWDINESE
Tension will be in the air on Sunday as two teams in need of points get ready to rumble.

Zack Collins goes into the game bang in form following his fabulous four-goal salvo against Mill Hill. He didn’t deserve to end up on the losing team. Simple as that.

Having played two games more than the Stones, ‘Nese chairman Jake Erlich knows only three points will do on Sunday.

He told JC Sport: “This is a must-win. We have played Whetstone three times before, with all outcomes coming from it, and therefore we know it will be a tough game.

“We have to concentrate for 90 minutes and put the work in for us to beat a team who can match us with fitness and physicality. Only three points will do, otherwise it will be a long way to climb back up the table with so few games left."

In the grand scheme of things, Whetstone’s recent win over Oakwood was huge. It gave them a little breathing space, but with some tough games on the horizon, three points on Sunday would be a real lift.

The bottom line is that Darren Lawrence needs a reaction from his players and I think he will get one on Sunday.

Boca boss Gabriel John is desperate for away win and there’s no better place than to do it that at the home of Jewish football – Rowley Lane.

The first meeting between the teams was one for the purists, with Josh Marlow rescuing a point for Boca against the 10 men of Lions in a four-goal thriller.

KING CROWN vs SHACHARIT DONETSK
King Crown remain favourites to seal the runners-up spot, despite a hat-trick of defeats.

Manager Jacob Kadoch has been playing around with new systems following the losses against Shacharit, London Rovers and Faithfold B, the latter of which was overturned after the Greens fielded an ineligible player.

There’s a fair chance the Crown troops hadn’t heard of Adam Ellis before their first meeting. After 90 minutes of having rings run around them, they must’ve been begging their manager to snap him up.

With home advantage on Sunday, it wouldn’t surprise me if Kadoch assigns Dom Cheniart to a man-marking mission on the Shacharit talisman.

All the goals arrived late on in the recent clash, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if there was an element of back to basics in terms of the Crown defending. They haven’t kept a clean sheet since mid-October and it’s important they make themselves difficult to beat on Sunday.

KS REUNITED vs TEMPLE FORTUNE
Jonathan Cohen promises some changes to his starting XI as Temple Fortune go in search of back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Having secured a terrific victory at Real last time out, the Fortune boys they can climb off the foot of the table if they take maximum points.

A first clean sheet of the season has lifted confidence sky high and Cohen is hoping for “another steely performance” in Essex.

A lack of match sharpness could prove a problem for KS on Sunday. They’ve only played once since Chanukah and this weekend’s battle could be a case of shaking off the cobwebs.

Undoubtedly they need to improve their service to their strikers, and I am not talking about lumping the ball up to them - I mean get it to them quicker, but with quality.

The feel-good-factor is back in the Fortune camp and I can see them doing the business once more.

REAL SOSOBAD vs FAITHFOLD B
The next three games are absolutely massive for Faithfold, simple at that. Frustration ultimately got the better of them last Sunday, although they showed great character to come from three goals down to 3-2 against table-toppers. But in the end they were undone by the magic of Markiewicz.

And to make matters worse, they were docked three points from the recent game against King Crown, meaning automatic promotion is a really big ask.

With matches against King Crown and London Rovers to follow, three points is the only option for Faithfold on Sunday. But I fear that the recent defeats against Hendon and Lions will leave them dreaming of what might’ve been.

Sosobad are still reeling from the shock defeat at home to basement battlers Temple Fortune. Their first home league defeat came at just the wrong time and boss Dan Shafron left his players in no uncertain team’s that a repeat performance is just not on. They certainly won’t walk on to the pitch complacent, that’s for sure.

If Real win their game in hand, they would leapfrog Faithfold. But first thing’s first. Three points, and no excuses about the pitch which may not make for a great spectacle, but could prove something of a great leveller for the technicians on show.
