Macleod is player of season

Nick Macleod is Belmont & Edgware's player of the season. Club captain Ashley Connick described his teammate as being "revitalised since giving up the gloves".

Macleod achievement were recognised at the club's first-ever end-of-season dinner and awards evening, attended by 40 of the club's members and their partners in Finchley,.

A new award for the Most Improved Player, presented for the first time this season, was dedicated to former BECC player Richard Ableson, who died in December 2008. The award was won by Jack Mendel.

Other winners included Young Player of the Year Rafael Levin, 2nd XI Player of the Year Johnny Reid and the Clubman of the Year award, BECC's highest honour, went to 2nd XI captain, Ryan Monk.

Bowler Gideon Restan was one of the standout performers during the campaign, taking 17 wickets in seven matches at an average of 6.41. The captain also praised top all-rounder Jonny Evans who has "thrived on increased responsibility".

Connick said: "It's been a very positive year for the club and I'm certain the enthusiasm will be carried over through the winter and into 2011."
