Maccabiah stars sparkle for South

articlemain

South Manchester finished their season on a high with a nine-wicket demolition of Salford Jewish CC.

Steven Allweis (4-26) and Akiva Lieberman (3-17), who have both represented Team GB Juniors at Maccabiah level, stole the show as Salford were unable to repel some exceptional bowling.

Moshe Harris and Rafi Dover ensured Salford crept past the 50 mark before Jonathan Lieberman cleaned up the tail with 2-10 as the hosts finished on 62.

South made short work of their target despite losing opening batsman David Schonfield early on to a great delivery from Josh Henry.

Dan Lieberman hit some crisp strokes in a dazzling 34 not out while Josh Oeghley carried his bat for 25 as Steven Glicher's troops finished on 63-1 off just eight overs.

Salford will conclude a testing first season in the Greater Manchester Amateur League this weekend when they face Olympic.
