Maccabi Sports Programme sees rise in numbers

Following a record-breaking 2009, which saw the Maccabi GB Schools and Sports programme reach more than 3,000 young people, an increase of 20 per cent on the previous year, the Year 5 and 6 Primary Football tournament engaged 400 youngsters from 16 Primary schools.

The event featured 39 teams in total, making it MGB's largest school's sport tournament since they began over a decade ago.

Sinai beat Simon Marks in the final of the girls' tournament, winning against a strong Simon Marks team. Naima claimed the boys title after holding their nerve to beat HJPS in a penalty shootout.

Independent Jewish Day School won the 16-team Year 3 and 4 competition.
