Maccabi reach National Futsal finals

articlemain

Maccabi GB Futsal maintained their scintillating 2013/2014 campaign on Sunday by progressing to the National Finals of the FA Futsal Cup.

By winning all their South West Regional qualifiers, they remain undefeated since Manager Jon Kurrant took the helm in September and will now play the other best Futsal sides from around the UK.

The team's four-match winning streak also sees them seeded for the 'Mini-League' - another qualifying round to determine who will play in the National semi-finals.

MGB made a flying start in the opener, with player-manager Jon Kurrant, Scott Shulton and Benji Weinberger on target in the 3-0 win over Goodfellas.

This was followed by a 4-0 victory, thanks to strikes from Kurrant, Shulton (2) and Jonah Gordon-Boyd. Kurrant went off injured and is currently undergoing treatment for concussion.

Shulton (2) maintained his excellent goal-scoring form with a double in the 5-1 demolition of One-Touchables. Further strikes from Ben Winters, Gideon Barnett and Weinberger finished the job.
